This post offers visual resources for the fourth Sunday of Lent, March 19, 2023, from both the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary.
In this third week of Lent we explore visual resources for both the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary for March 12, 2023. The RCL takes us to Exodus 17 with Moses bringing water from the rock, Romans 5 where the Spirit pours out grace, and John 4 where Jesus offers living water to the woman at the Well. The Narrative Lectionary takes us to a confrontation about Jesus’ authority and his parable of the wedding banquet.
Jesus begins his public ministry in the readings for this week. The Revised Common Lectionary takes us to John 1:29-42 where we see John the Baptist introduce his disciples to Jesus. The Narrative Lectionary continues in Matthew 4:1-17 and takes us into the wilderness where Jesus is tempted and then to Capernaum where Jesus takes up the mantle of John’s preaching.
Explore the stories of Jesus as a graphic novel. Each Gospel–Matthew, Mark, Luke and John–is fully illustrated and available to read online, in print, and downloadable as PowerPoint and Image presentations.
A Cartoonist’s Guide to John is now in print. Explore the life of Jesus, according to John, as a graphic novel.
