The prophet Jeremiah lived in the worst of times for the Kingdom of Judah. His story goes from bad to worse, and stays there. He offers hope when all seems lost.
These images offer a visual introduction to the basic ancient cosmology and how political power structures evolved. It is important to understand the ancient worldview in order to fully grasp the language and context of God’s Promises to Abraham’s family. The temptation toward power struggles and violence in the ancient world are still present today. May we learn to hear God’s Promises, through Jesus Christ, clearly in our present situation.

A visual meditation on Isaiah 5:1-7 and Isaiah 11:1-5. Isaiah compares Judah to a vineyard. It was expected to produce the sweet wine of justice and righteousness, but only produces the wild grapes of bloodshed and caused an outcry of pain. The vintner lets is fall apart. One day, though, a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse who will be a vine that leads with Justice and Righteousness.
