A reader sent in a great question this week after watching my video on the Vine and the Branches. They asked “what is perichoretic power?”
That is such a wonderful question. The term “perichoretic power” is a big, fancy term that comes from the greek word perichoresis. It literally means “rotation; to dance around”. It is a term that many theologians have used to talk about the relationship between the three persons of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are not separate and distinct from each other, but “dance around” with each other. The very essence of God is the relationships between the three persons, thus all of creation is made up of relationships, not solitary substances.
Simply put, and why it matters…we’re all in this together. Everything is connected in dynamic, ever-changing relationships and every action impacts–positively or negatively–everything else.
I’ve written a lot and created a lot of art about this topic. If you find it interesting, you might want to check out my Trinity Page.
