This post offers visual resources for the fourth Sunday of Lent, March 19, 2023, from both the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary.
In this third week of Lent we explore visual resources for both the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary for March 12, 2023. The RCL takes us to Exodus 17 with Moses bringing water from the rock, Romans 5 where the Spirit pours out grace, and John 4 where Jesus offers living water to the woman at the Well. The Narrative Lectionary takes us to a confrontation about Jesus’ authority and his parable of the wedding banquet.
In this second week of Lent we explore the generosity and abundance of God. The Revised Common Lectionary takes us to John 3:1-17 where Jesus talks about God’s love for the world with Nicodemus. The Narrative Lectionary takes us to the parable that Jesus tells following the encounter with the rich young ruler where a vineyard owner pays all the workers the same wage, no matter how long they had worked in the field.
Lent begins this week with Ash Wedneday and the first Sunday of Lent. The RCL takes us to Matthew 6 for Ash Wednesday and Matthew 4 for Sunday. The Narrative Lectionary continues walking through the story of Matthew and lands in the Community Discourse of Matthew 18. This post has visual resources for all these passages.
I am very excited to announce that the course I built for Faith+Lead Academy on the Gospel of Matthew is available online. I built this course on A Cartoonist’s Guide to Matthew, but it has so much more. Check it out…
