God Tends to be with the Underdogs

Have you ever felt like only the rich, powerful, or popular people have the good life? That seems to be the message of mass and social media, doesn’t it? Perhaps you have felt like you are living in the shadows of obscurity and that your life doesn’t really matter.

Be encouraged. You’re probably in just the right place.

Our readings for this week begin with the anointing of David. He was so obscure that even his father didn’t register him on the list for potential candidates. Here we encounter one of my favorite verses,

“The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)”
