This post offers visual resources for the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary for October 1, 2023. The RCL recounts the story of how God provided water from the rock for the grumbling Israelites in Exodus 17:1-7. It also continues a mini series with Philippians 2:1-13, the mind of Christ. The Gospel is Matthew 21:23-32 where Jesus tells the parable of the two sons. The NL tells the story of Moses and the burning bush in Exodus 3:1-15.

I have completed the first 40 pages of A Cartoonist’s Guide to Acts. Over the past two weeks we completed pages 31-40. These pages cover Acts 18-26. These chapters tell the story of how Paul finishes his ministry in Greece and Asia and then gets arrested in Jerusalem and spends two years in a Caesarean prison.
My goal is to complete 5 pages per week until all 43 pages are finished. That means I have only have 3 PAGES to go. THE ILLUSTRATION WILL BE COMPLETE NEXT WEEK!!!!

This sermon was written in October, 2013. It was originally delivered as part of the Narrative Lectionary that we were following in the church I served. I’m reposting it today because the Revised Common Lectionary calls for this story in the first reading.
RCL text: Exodus 16:2-15
