Jesus Asks His Disciples, “Who Do You Say I Am?”

The Gospel reading for the Revised Common Lectionary gets intense this week. This is the scene that happens right before Jesus’ Transfiguration. He takes the disciples to the Northern region of Casarea Philippi and asks them who people think he is. After Peter declares that he is the Christ, Jesus tells them that he will be killed and that if they want to follow him they must be willing to die as well.
