Finishing the Bread of Life Series from John 6
Most of the crowd left Jesus because they thought his talk of eating his flesh and drinking his blood was a little over the top. Jesus turned to his disciples and asked if they would leave him, too. Peter replied, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Great on the Armour of God. I’d only suggest that this is not just seen individually but is addressed to the community of believers. Roman soldiers did not enter engagement on their own – not a good idea. I’ve had trouble trying to convince my students on this one as, of course, we live in the highly individualised West.
I totally agree. I’ve heard some people talk about how the back was the most unprotected part of the armor, which is why we need others around us to protect our backs. If I were to redraw this image I think I would make it a group of soldiers standing firm together. Maybe someday I’ll draw that.
