I finished painting the final page of A Cartoonist’s Guide to Acts last night! CLICK HERE to view all the pages online. Use the window below to flip through the pages with the online PDF viewer.
Phases of the Project
Phase 1: April-May. I studied the text of Acts in my Logos Bible Software and determined the page breakdown.
Phase 2: May-June. I laid out and penciled all the pages in the ComicDraw App on my iPad. I also started livestreaming the art sessions once a week. View the playlist HERE.
Phase 3: July-September. Painting in Photoshop. My wife, Lona, joined me in the project. We set a goal of completing five pages each week for nine weeks. First, I inked the pages. Second, Lona blocked out all the solid color shapes, thus making it much faster for me to paint. Finally, I fully rendered each page and posted online.
What’s Next?
Now that the illustration is done it is time to do a few more things to make the book useful.
- Get the book printed. I hope to have it available in November.
- Convert each page into a PowerPoint and image pack and make available for preachers and teachers to tell the story visually.
- Record voice over videos as an audio/visual commentary of the book.
- Write scripts and compile the course on Acts for Faith+Lead Academy. We hope to have the course available next Spring.
Thanks for all your encouragement and prayers on this project. Reach out with questions.
