Every Thursday we experience lunch church at Luther Seminary, where I am a professor. Last Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, was my turn to lead. A book captured my imagination over the Christmas break. It is Art and Faith by Makoto Fujimura. So, I thought I would lead our campus through a visual spiritual exercise with Kintsugi. Below is the Slide Deck I used. Below it is the YouTube video that is embedded in the deck.
I recommend this book to you. Feel free to use this presentation for your own reflection, teaching, preaching, or community spiritual practice if you find it helpful.
peace.
This is the YouTube video of Fujimura explaining Kintsugi that I showed during the presenation.
I love the idea of Kintsugi Communion. Thank you for introducing me to Makoto Fujimara’s new book. I had read the one about culture, but did not know about the new one. What a rich book that expands on Kintsugi and ties in art and faith. I loved his video. Congrats on your new position at Luther; they are lucky to have you!
Thanks, Jan. Great to hear from you.
I need to know you and your work. I’m creating similar work as a pastor and potter, and would welcome a conversation via email.
