The Narrative Lectionary brings us to John 20:19-31 this week. Three things happen in this story:

  1. Jesus appears to the disciples and breathes the Holy Spirit onto them.
  2. Jesus appears to Thomas, who was absent at the first appearance and demanded to see the marks in Jesus’ body.
  3. The author offers a purpose statement for the entire Gospel writing: “These signs have been written so that you might TRUST that Jesus is the Messiah, and by TRUSTING you might have LIFE in his name.”

The download includes a PowerPoint with 12 slides, and an image Pack of 12 .jpg files and a printable PDF handout that you can use in your own preaching and teaching.

This is a labor of love. Download for free, or donate whatever you want. Feel free to use these resources for your preaching, teaching, or personal study.

The Gospel According to John is unique among the four Gospels. It paints a portrait of Jesus that allows us to see Jesus as the Word of God that became human to show us what it looks like to live in full fellowship with God and experience the abundant life.
