Please pray for the two groups that leave today for South Dakota. One group of middle school students will travel to Rapid City, Sout Dakota. The trip on which I will participate is a high school group that is traveling to Wanblee, S.D. which is in the Pine Ridge reservation. Both of these trips are with Youthworks. Both groups will travel together today and stay at a church in Sioux Falls. Then we’ll travel most of the way together tomorrow until my group veers off to our site. We will reunite on Friday and reverse the order of the trip. We’ll stay the night at the same church on Friday night and then return home next Saturday.
This opportunity works well with both the sermon topic for this week and Richard Rohr’s meditations from this past week in which he talks about the real meaning of the Real Presence of Jesus in Communion. The Spirit of God invites us to conspire God’s love with all of creation—our intimate friends, our comfortable neighbors, our uncomfortable neighbors, and the natural environment in which we live and from which we draw life.
I will not be posting for the next eight days. Enjoy your week and pray for our safety, that we will be able to share in God’s love with a new group of people, and that our youth and adult leaders will grow deeper in God’s love, through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of the world.
