The Narrative Lectionary begins a new summer series on Hebrew Wisdom Literature this week. Check out this commentary from my colleague Dr. Kathryn Schifferdecker.

The NL pairs Proverbs 1:1-7; 3:1-8 with Matthew 13–the parables of Jesus–for the readings on July 23. This makes sense, since Jesus’ parables function in a very similar way to the Hebrew proverbs. The image below comes from page 9 in A Cartoonist’s Guide to Matthew   where you can explore the parables further.

Feel free to download the PowerPoint below and use it to help you present Jesus’ parables in Matthew 13.
