We are preaching through some of Jesus’ parables this summer in a series called Climbing Trees. The title comes from the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19. Zach climbed a tree to get a new perspective on Jesus.
We are using Amy-Jill Levine’s book Short Stories by Jesus as our guide. Levine is a New Testament and Jewish studies professor at Vanderbilt Divinity School. Her mission is to help us see Jesus’ parables through the Jewish lens that he and his listeners would have had when they were told.
This week we look at Luke 15 and three parables about people who lost things and what they did about it. This prompted me to create A Cartoonist’s Guide to Luke 15. Enjoy!

Love it all!
I loved this so much as we are going through “short stories by Jesus” right now. I can’t see that you did any of the other five parables in that book in this same way. If you did, would you please direct me to them? TY!
Rebind me which parables she covers and I’ll let you know. You can search for them at Artpastor.com/bible
