Living Bread for the Journey: Week 3 in the Series on John 6
The Revised Common Lectionary continues a 5-week series on John 6 this week. If you choose the alternate first reading this week you can connect the story of Elijah running for his life to this conversation Jesus has with his opponents. God gave Elijah bread that gave him strength to run forty days to Mount Horeb. God fed the Israelites in that same wilderness with manna. Jesus claims that his flesh is the bread that gives strength for the ultimate journey of life. He is living bread.
I made a dramatic reading video of John 6:1-59 that you are free to use in worship.
