We have a new president. Like millions of others, I watched the inauguration for two reasons. First, to be honest, I was curious to see if there would be any violence. Secondly, I wanted to see what President Biden had to say.
Biden said something that struck a chord for me and tapped into a deep well of research and writing from my PhD work. He said that we have to get past the “red/blue divide” and work toward unity. He also said that “truth” is under attack.
Much of the work behind my dissertation had to do with exploring a postfoundational hermeneutic. That’s a fancy phrase that basically asks this question, “how can we get past the polarization that has occurred in the modern era between conservatives and liberals?”
If you would like to do a deep dive into this topic, I invite you to explore the page The Postfoundational Frame as a launch point.
For now, I would like to share this animation I created in August 2016. I’ve shared it a few times, but I think the message is important.
