The Journey reading for today brings us to my favorite passage of the entire Bible. It is the metaphor of the vine and the branches in John 15:1-10. I have been captivated by this image since I was a child. Do a search on my site for “John 15” and you will find pages of material.
Today I want to pay tribute to this text by compiling all of the images I’ve made about it to date. Meditating on art is one of the many ways that we can abide in the vine, as Jesus invites us to do. Enjoy.
Thanks so much for sharing your gift for free. I’m a visual learner. I often see Gods Word as pictures in my mind. But I can not draw or paint no matter how I’ve tried. I’m watching my grandchildren and try to incorporate scripture daily. And my 7 year old GD is artsy and I think seeing Gods Word like this could really help as she’s memorizing it. And just to understand it. Her verse this week is “taste and see that the Lord is good “ so I’ve been having a hard time explaining this. “Keep your tongue from evil” was way easier. Lol.
Thanks Stacy James. ( Godly Grandma)
I’m glad to help you in your grandparenting and visualizing the scripture. peace.
Thanks for this!!! Was just reading John 15 and wanted an image to help me visualise. Yours caught my eye on google. Very well detailed and thought provoking.

Hello! I teach at a NJ Catholic K-8 elementary school and just found your videos and illustrations! I shared your Vine and Branches video with my principal and we will be showing it to our students! Thank you so much for your amazing creation and publicly sharing it!
Thank you so much for letting me know. I’m glad you are able to share this with your students. Blessings on your ministry.
This is wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to make and post this. I pray for more inspiration and understanding in you, by the Spirit in JESUS Name.
Hi! I was studying the scripture and came across your drawing. What a blessing! I often journal and draw pictures with my journaling as the Lord helps me learn with visuals of the scripture at times. (I’m no artist, very childlike drawing, when I say draw)
I’ve been on John 15 and your drawing is simple and wonderfully insightful. Thank you!
Also I’ve recently come across a Jaboticaba tree and amazed how the fruit grows on the trunk! At times I feel desperate to stick so close to the Lord that I relate to this tree and how the fruit produces. Unique indeed. Different but created and tended by our Father in all its uniqueness and producing wonderful fruit in the way it was intended.
Thank you again for sharing your drawing.
How interesting. Thanks for sharing.
