Be honest. What is the first thought or feeling that comes to you when you hear the word theology? Does it conjure up images of crusty old German men using big words? Does it evoke fear of condemnation from holier-than-thou Bible thumpers?
If so, that is unfortunate. The fact is that everyone is a theologian because everyone has an idea about the basis of reality.

See, theology is simply talking about God.
It is one of the most important things we can do in life. If you would like to get a very understandable introduction to the purpose and process of theology, I recommend the book Who Needs Theology? by Stanley Grenz and Roger Olson.
