Advent 2025

Join me as I reflect on the scriptures of Advent by painting on my iPad. This is a contemplative practice where we slow down, breathe deeply, listen to a chill playlist, and allow creativity to flow.

You are invited to create along with me, or simply allow my creative process to open a contemplative space for you. Interact in real time, or watch the video later.

The livestream sessions will be multicast to Facebook and YouTube.

Below are the texts for each week of Advent from the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary. Click the Resource Page button to explore visual resources for each week.

I had the joy of being a guest on the Pivot Podcast where we talked about spiritual practices for Advent.

Enjoy this Virtual Advent Wreath. This download contains 2 PowerPoint presentations: 1 in Widescreen format and 1 in 4×3 format. Each slide lights the next Advent Candle. The download also includes a .zip file of all the images in .jpg format to be used in whatever presentation software you prefer.

This is a labor of love. You can purchase this for free or pay as much as you want as a donation to the ongoing production of these visual materials. Feel free to use this presentation for your preaching, teaching, or personal study.

During Advent 2023 I decided to do an experiment. Each Tuesday evening at 7:00pm CST I hosted a livestream event. The objective was to create an original piece of art from scratch during the livestream that was a contemplative reflection on the theme of each week: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.

It was a fun experiment. I learned a great deal on the technical side about how to use restream to multicast to Facebook and YouTube.

I invite you to enjoy the YouTube playlist below. Perhaps you need to take a little breath today. Turn on one of the videos. Get comfortable. Enjoy the soft music in the background. Reflect on the meaning of this season.

Below are the four pieces that I created during the sessions. They were painted in Photoshop, using a Wacom Cintiq 16 Digital Pen Display. Enjoy!
