Art Pastor Live is where faith and creativity meet in real time.

Each week I go live to explore scripture through drawing and painting—offering a unique space to reflect, imagine, and be spiritually renewed. Whether you’re a visual learner, a fellow artist, or simply seeking a fresh way to engage your faith, you’re invited to watch, wonder, and grow with me.

Putting Jeremiah 29:11 in Context Using Clip Studio Paint

In this session of Art Pastor Live I invite you to walk with me as I work on an illustrated Bible study that helps to put Jeremiah 29:11 in context. I am using Clip Studio Paint to draw this study in a comic book format. This session will be equal parts Bible nerd and Comic Artist nerd fun!

Drawing Thumbnails in Procreate for an Oil Painting

This week I am working on thumbnails for an oil painting project. A family commissioned me to do a painting to honor the memory of their son who was killed in a motorcycle accident. I am so honored that the family gave me permission to share the journey of creating this painting.

Using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro to Visually Think through Why There are So Many Worship Styles

Using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro to Visually Think through Why There are So Many Worship Styles

This week I share the work I’ve been doing around the subject of worship. Two things converge for me this week: First, I am the new Dean of the Chapel at Luther Seminary and it is my responsibility to cultivate, steward, and shepherd the worship and spiritual life of our Seminary. Second, I am writing a course called Loving God with our Spirit for Faith+Lead Academy in which I talk about the spiritual practice of worship.

I spent all day on Friday visually thinking through the question, “Why are there so many worship styles, and how do I choose one that’s right for me?” I find that Toon Boom Storyboard Pro is an excellent tool to create multi-dimensional mind maps. If you’ve read my book The Visual Preacher then you know that I love creating mind maps to visually explore a sermon, or any presentation. This livestream is an example of that.

I hope you find this session interesting and helpful. I get rambling a bit, and definitely run out of time to go deeply into all the ideas I drew about.
