Hi Subscriber,

It is New Year’s Day and it is time to look back and reflect on 2022 and look forward to what God might be doing in 2023. I'm so grateful that you are with me on this journey. I hope that the content I produce is helpful fuel for the spiritual journey that God is taking you on this year.

Reflecting on 2022

In going through my journal for this year, I remembered that I refined my personal mission statement:

My mission is to cultivate the gifts and passions that God has given to me so that I might help others grow deeper in the love of God for the sake of the world. My life is a fusion of ART and THEOLOGY.

In this post I reflect on the major events in my life last year, the artwork I created, and what all of it might mean...Read more

Looking Forward to 2023

Here are some of the things I'm working on this year that I think you might find helpful for your own spiritual journal.
I invite you to...
  • Consider reading The Visual Preacher if you are a preacher, or give it to a preacher you know. This was published in July of last year.
  • Pray for the continuing work of A Cartoonist’s Guide to the Bible.
    • Each week, I publish a visual guide to the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary and send it out to my personal email list (that's you, if you also subscribe to my daily posts) and the subscribers to my CB store, and,
    • on Mondays at 4:00pm CT I offer an online Visual Bible Study for members of the CB Network. I'd love to have you join us.
  • Keep a look out for Faith+Lead Academy. Half of my work at Luther Seminary is to create online courses for FLA. I get to do animation as part of my job! Can you believe it!!!! I’m currently finishing up two courses: Introduction to Matthew and Overflow: An Introduction to Growing in Faith. Both of these courses will be released in early 2023.
  • Join my quest to figure out exactly what my/your niche is in the academy/spiritual pursuit. Now that I'm a professor, this is part of my journey. I know the broad field is Christian Spirituality/Spiritual Formation. More narrowly, I am being led to do a deep dive into Art and Faith as a form of Christian Spirituality. It seems to make sense and resonate deeply with who I am. I will be blogging about this.
  • Stay tuned…
Taking the journey together,
Steve
