Hi Subscriber,
We just celebrated Memorial Day here in the U.S. It is the unofficial beginning of the summer season. I hope you have big plans to rest and recharge this summer.
|
Here are some big projects I'll be working on this summer that you might find interesting and possibly helpful for your spiritual journey:
|
- Finish A Cartoonist's Guide to Luke. I illustrated the Gospel of Luke in a graphic novel style between Christmas and Easter this year, because we were preaching it in the church I serve. However, we followed the Narrative Lectionary which skips big sections of the Gospel. I will complete the eight unfinished pages this month and publish the book by the end of the summer. Check out what is already finished HERE. Stay tuned for updates.
- Illustrate the Visual Preaching Book. I finished writing the manuscript for the book on Visual Preaching that Fortress Press asked me to write. I'll spend the summer creating the illustrations. You can't have a book on Visual Preaching without visuals, right? It is scheduled for publication in Spring 2022. Learn more about the project HERE.
- Grow A Cartoonist's Guide to the Bible. If you have followed my work for a while, you know that one of my greatest passions is to create visual, digital tools to help people study, preach and teach the Bible and grow Spiritually. I officially launched A Cartoonist's Guide to the Bible last fall as its own website. We've had over 2,000 downloads and the number of people who download the PowerPoints and Image Packs grows each month. CLICK HERE to learn more about how you can participate in this growing community. I'd really love your feedback on where we think God is taking this ministry.

A Cartoonist's Guide to Pentecost
|
Pentecost is often consider a reversal of the Tower of Babel. Was the spreading of the nations in Genesis a curse, or a nudge to continue the blessing?

Putting Acts 15 and Galatians 1-2 in Context | The Church as a Multi-Ethnic Community
|
What do Acts 15 and the first two chapters of Galatians have in common? They both talk about the first big debate over ethnic identity in the church. Some of the early Christians said you had to be circumcised and assimilate into the Jewish culture in order to be a true disciple of Jesus. They debated the topic in Acts 15 in Jerusalem. The Apostle Paul was very opposed to this teaching. That's what he's talking about in his letter to the Galatians.
