The Narrative Lectionary text for today is Ephesians 4:1-16. This is my illustration of the text. Paul’s definition of maturity and unity in the body of Christ is the ability to speak the truth in love.

Truth without love is cold, harsh, and often cruel.

Love without truth is sentimental and often enabling.

Here is another example of the paradox and the need to hold opposites in dynamic tension and non-dual unity in order to be the healthy body of Christ in the world. The body of Christ is a dynamic conglomeration of diversity working in unity.

May you be a truthful, loving person today.
