The daily reading for today is Acts 10:1-33. Every time I read this text I am amazed both at the message itself and in the way Peter responds. Here’s a guy that has been raised his entire life to believe that certain types of food, and certain types of people, are completely restricted by God. They are unclean and you will be in big trouble if you associate with them.

Then God asks Peter to eat the unclean animals and visit the forbidden/unclean people.

What would you do? You see a vision that directly contradicts the scripture? Would you believe it? How do you know this is from God and not a deception?

It is easy to gloss over Peter’s words to Cornelius. Read them again, slowly, and let the impact of the massive paradigm shift sink in.

You yourselves know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with or to visit a Gentile; but God has shown me that I should not call anyone profane or unclean. So when I was sent for, I came without objection. (Acts 10:28-29)

Who are the “off-limits” peopleĀ God is revealing to you right now? How can you connect with them to share in the peace of God?
