The three-hour flight from Chicago Midway to Cancun gave me the perfect opportunity to play around with Procreate and Animation Creator on the iPad.

First, I drew this image. why not, right?
Cancun or Bust

Second, I exported the three layers as separate .png files to preserve the background transparency.

Finally, I brought in the sky picture as the background in Animation Creator HD, imported the airplane image in consecutive frames and moved it slightly in each frame (duh, it’s animation), then added a new layer in each frame and imported the foreground clouds. It would have been easier if Animation Creator had a foreground option, but this worked. I’d hate to use this method for a long piece, but this was fun.

Here’s the final animation. Don’t blink.
