Restart Easter 2015“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

Do you feel that way today?

Our theme for Easter this year is RESTART. Jesus’ death and resurrection is the beginning of the New Creation. Pastor Mark brought us a great sermon yesterday where he reminded us that the ancient Jewish rabbis used to teach that on the eighth day God would recreate all things and make all things new.

Easter is the 8th day. Easter is our chance to start fresh. God became flesh in Jesus and took all the sin and pain and suffering of humanity on himself, and let it crush him. Then, in the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus came back to life and conquered sin and death. God hit the massive “Restart the Game” button on the universe, and we all have a chance to start fresh, free from guilt and shame.

The beauty of Easter is that it happens every day. Each morning we are invited to enter into God’s love, grace, and forgiveness, to be washed clean through Jesus, and to walk in the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit.

No matter what you have done. No matter what your guilt and the shame you feel for it, God can make you clean. Let it go. Begin the process of healing. God wants you to walk in the freedom of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

You can hit RESTART.

This is the day that the Lord has made. What will you do with it?

Note to my devo readers: First of all, thank you for reading the daily devo. Second, I will continue writing daily devos through the Easter Season. We leave the book of Matthew this week and jump into the book of Acts. It will be a little confusing, because next Sunday the text takes us to the last passage of Matthew. You might want to read that now, so the Acts makes more sense.

If you subscribe to the blog, you will receive the daily devos via email each day. Feel free to share these with your friends. Have a great day.
